From DoG Street to Wall Street

The 18th Annual From DoG Street to Wall Street event, co-sponsored by the Boehly Center for Excellence in Finance at the Mason School of Business, the Howard J. Busbee Finance Academy, and the Office of Career Development & Professional Engagement in the Cohen Career Center, was held in-person from September 5 in Phi Beta Kappa to September 6, 2024 in Miller Hall. To kick off the event, students enjoyed a spectacular keynote address by Dan Draper ’91. The program continued with a series of networking sessions and panels on a broad variety of topics from W&M alumni and guests within the industry including early career success, private equity & alternative investments, investment & corporate banking, hedge funds, consulting, and more. Students of all majors and academic years explored the wide variety of opportunities in finance.

Dan Draper ’91

Chief Executive Officer at S&P Dow Jones Indices

Dan Draper is Chief Executive Officer at S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI), responsible for all aspects of the index business globally. S&P DJI is the world’s leading index provider and offers investment professionals around the world an array of products from core indices such as the S&P 500® to broad comprehensive benchmarks.

Before joining S&P DJI, Mr. Draper held asset management, wealth management, and investment banking leadership positions in New York, London, Hong Kong, and Jakarta with Invesco, Credit Suisse Asset Management, Lyxor Asset Management, iShares/Barclays Global Investors, Goldman Sachs, UBS Wealth Management, and Salomon Brothers.

Mr. Draper earned an MBA from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the College of William and Mary in Virginia. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) charterholder and holds the Chartered Market Technician®, Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst, Financial Risk Manager, Certified Financial Planner®, and Chartered Financial Consultant® designations.
